VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

GET INVOLVED!

Volunteers play a crucial role in fulfilling the mission of The Summer Institute by supporting day-to-day program operations and orchestrating special events that forge lasting memories for students.

We invite you to read more about our current volunteer opportunities below. Please contact Macy Land, Program Coordinator, at mland@summer-institute.com to sign up. Thank you for your support!

VOLUNTEER CHAIR

The Volunteer Chair is crucial in supporting The Summer Institute's volunteer program. This role involves closely collaborating with staff to efficiently manage program volunteers by coordinating coverage for all events and overseeing volunteer recruitment.

MUSEUM CHAPERONE

The Summer Institute benefits from a campus that is walking-distance from 19 different museums. Museum visits serve as an integral part of our Humanities curriculum. Chaperones are needed to help supervise and guide students through these visits alongside program faculty.

FUN FRIDAY CHAPERONE

Join us for the excitement of "Fun Fridays" at The Summer Institute! Each Friday, students venture to exciting destinations to celebrate the culmination of the academic week and spend time in community together. Past adventures include bowling, escape rooms, sports complexes, iFly, and more! Chaperones accompany students on these special trips from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. We encourage chaperones to fully engage in the activities and embrace the opportunity for community building!

DESK COVERAGE

We are in need of volunteers to cover the front desk each day, assisting with tasks such as managing sign-in and sign-out procedures for visitors and students, collaborating with teachers to record attendance, answering phone calls, and handling administrative tasks like printing or copying.

CLOSING CEREMONY

Closing Ceremony is a special event marking the culmination of the summer program. Students, families, and teachers gather together to celebrate students' accomplishments and bid farewell to 8th graders as they graduate from the program, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey.

Volunteers play a crucial role in ensuring the success of Closing Ceremony by assisting with planning, set-up, staffing, and clean-up in order to create a memorable event for all attendees.

LUNCH AND LEARN

Our Alumni Program provides two essential components: SAT preparation and professional development. Many of our students face limited access to professionals in their desired career fields. "Lunch and Learn" serves as a platform for professionals to share about their career journeys with alumni over lunch, offering insights and addressing any questions they may have.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Photography volunteers help capture candid shots of daily program activities as well as special events. These photographs serve as a visual narrative of our program for supporters and provide cherished keepsakes of memorable moments for students and their families.
