Applied Math Teacher (10th–12th Grade)

Job Overview

The Summer Institute is seeking a dynamic Applied Math teacher for our upcoming summer enrichment program. While building positive relationships with students, the teacher will work toward the program-wide goal of equipping motivated students with the tools they need to succeed. This teacher’s tool to impart is the application of mathematical thinking to real-world problem solving, with an emphasis on critical thinking, financial literacy, and data-informed decision making. The teacher will partner with program staff and administration to create an environment of safety, respect, and care, while upholding the culture of learning that permeates the program.

Responsibilities and Duties

Teach three sections of Applied Math for 10th–12th grade students.
Facilitate and support three sections of Independent Study, guiding students in goal setting, productivity, and academic ownership.
Design and oversee a culminating student project that applies mathematical concepts to real-world scenarios.
Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials, tools, and technology.
Engage students with material that is practical, relevant, and intellectually stimulating.
Supervise students both on campus and during field trips.
Evaluate and provide feedback on students’ academic work and projects.
Collaborate with colleagues in the holistic support of each student.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
Prior teaching experience.
Teacher certification preferred.
Ability to engage students through real-world applications of math in a clear and compelling way.
